On Friday, February 23, 2018, V.J. Smith was the guest speaker for all grades (7 – 12) at Mora High School. His message, based on the best-selling book, “The Richest Man in Town,” had a meaningful down-to-earth message!

V.J. Smith has traveled throughout the United States and Canada speaking to High School students, Fortune 500 Companies, University Students and many other organizations delivering messages of kindness, respect, appreciation and gratitude.

V.J. described to the students how one person, Marty, profoundly changed the people that he meet each day while working as a cashier at a local Wal-Mart store in South Dakota. He used some well used cliches, “What goes around comes around”, “If you give you shall receive”, “Reap what you sow” to engage and help the students understand the foundation of his message.

Marty was a man of simple mean. He gave to others. He did not give money, food nor anything material. What he gave everyone was kindness, compassion, respect and gratitude. As V.J. said, “Marty was living proof that you don’t need money, power or a title to make a difference in life. You just need to care.”
