National Prevention Week Continues…

National Prevention week continues this week and today we share the message of Prescription & Opioid Drug Misuse!

SACK has been working with our coalition partners to raise awareness and develop sustainable solutions to raise awareness, and educate those in our community! In April, SACK held a FREE Community Forum in Ogilvie to discuss the opioid crisis. Leaders of the community were there from our local law enforcement agency, health care, recovery/treatment, judicial system,  and public schools. The wealth of knowledge, resources and information was amazing! Our community is fortunate to have extremely knowledgeable and caring leader in the community who give endlessly to keep us safe.

Just last week the Minnesota Department of Health came out with a preliminary report highlighting the surge of deaths Minnesota saw in 2017 because of the synthetic opioid drug, fentanyl. While there has been noticeable progress made in the decrease in prescription opioid and heroin deaths the synthetic opioid, fentanyl has become a larger concern.

The SACK coalition will continue their work to educated, create awareness and develop ways in which we can keep our community safe.
