Each year, for the past three years, the Steve Schulz Visionary Awards have been given annually to two individuals, one adult and one student, who have provided quality improvement to Kanabec County, through his or her vision of community. By developing & nurturing partnerships with other community organizations, schools and businesses, B.A.D.G.E.S has been able to sustain Mr. Schulz’s vision over the last three years by presenting this unique award.

This years award winners were chosen in mid-January. SACK is proud to announce that Ogilvie School Counselor and SACK Coalition member, Amber Aasen, was chosen as the winner of the Steve Schulz Visionary Award!

Amber Aasen is the school counselor for Ogilvie Public Schools. She is the adviser of the OWN IT! student group. Amber has found ways for students to be involved in community projects and in their school community! Shop with a Cop, Holiday Gifts for Kids, SACK Coalition, reading to elementary students, event planning, and the OWN IT Coffee Shop!

She motivates the students to be creative, thoughtful and the leader of their events. Her connections with other groups and organizations in the community helps bridge the gap between the students school community and the community they live in.

Amber will receive her award at a celebratory dinner on Thursday, February 1st at Springbrook Golf Course! Congratulations Amber!
