txt4lifeAt our monthly coalition meeting, Brittany Hines, East Central Regional Prevention Coordinator for the txt4life program, gave coalition members an overview of the program. 

txt4life is a free, confidential texting service operating in select areas of Minnesota. By texting the word “LIFE” to 61222, people are connected to trained counselors who can help with thoughts of suicide, give advice on how to help a friend who might be thinking of suicide, and offer supportive listening when texters go through traumatic events in their lives. 

txt4life is a service of Canvas Health, a Minnesota non-profit. The txt4life center serves individuals from more than 40 Minnesota counties and Tribal Nations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Trained counselors respond to texts from people of all ages about a wide variety of topics and crisis situation. }

Between January and September of this year, txt4life has had 7,697 text conversations, given 262 school and community presentation and most commonly connected with 14-15 year old teens.
