Members of the Mora’s Above the Influence (ATI) group at Mora High School have been busy working on ways to encourage positive influences at the Library Park in Mora! The students participated in an environmental scan at the Library Park and identified the strengths, weaknesses and possible solutions to improve the negativity the park has been associated with over the last several years. They spoke with local law enforcement officials, members of the Mora Park and Recreation board, and community members about what they could do improve the Library Park!
The culmination of their ideas and feedback always led them back to the word “positivity”. Adding positive elements to the park on a more consistent basis is one way to create a better atmosphere and to encourage children and families to utilize the Library Park more often. On Wednesday, May 17th the ATI students and SACK are hosting the first “Positivity in the Park” event from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. There will be games and activities from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. – basketball, free throw contest, sidewalk art, yoga, volleyball, music and food! There will be other community partners involved, sharing their message and plans for other positive park events.
