Kanabec County residents are using the QUITPLAN Helpline.  15 individuals enrolled in the QUITPLAN Helpline between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 (FY12). In the previous fiscal year, 11 individuals enrolled. The MN QUITPLAN program offers service to those who do not have health insurance coverage for tobacco cessation.   In addition, a new program called Freedom from Smoking is being offered in the community as a result of a collaborative effort among FirstLight Health System and Kanabec County Public Health. Freedom from Smoking is an evidence-based program founded by the American Lung Association to engage smokers interested in quitting in an 8-week class involving a step-by-step process of how to quit smoking for good.  To enroll in the Freedom from smoking program you can either contact Kanabec County Public Health at 320-679-6330 or FirstLight Health System at 320-679-1212.
